It's Not a Cyst

August 29th, 2007 2:04 pm

Not A CystHere’s an interesting story that recently happened to me. I call this story: It’s Not a Tumor Cyst.

I went to my physician for a regular checkup and I pointed out a small bump on my forehead near my hairline. The bump is underneath a mole and just recently I noticed it had gotten slightly larger. The doctor recommended that I go see a plastic surgeon to have it examined. Since I was covered for medical insurance, I went.

The plastic surgeon figured that my mole was covering up a small cyst filled with liquid that had built up. It’s like a zit or pimple but you certainly don’t just pop it. She wanted to remove it and because her next appointment canceled, she could do it right away and it would be super quick. Sounded good to me.

After the surgeon “opened me up”, she noticed that 3 blood vessels were all intersecting in the same spot and had all dilated. There was a lot of blood and the procedure went on longer than she or I had wanted. It didn’t help that I was drinking coffee before the visit and I had to go to the bathroom badly. During the procedure, I felt my classic cluster headache symptoms. I felt pain directly behind my left eye, my nose began to water and I started to sweat in the face. When I mentioned this to her, she applied pressure on the blood vessels and asked if I felt that same pain. Sure enough, I did.

This is potentially great news. This means that we might have found the cause for my headaches!!!

The surgeon is having a small piece tested in the lab, and I have to wear this lovely head gear for a few days. It hurts a little and I can’t bend over, raise my blood pressure, or have blood rush to that spot in my head otherwise it will hurt. Originally this was supposed to be a simple procedure so we weren’t in the operating room. She was only able to suture two of the blood vessels in the very small incision that she had made. She gave me 8 stitches and closed me up.

The plan right now is to let this heal and see if I receive any more headaches. I’m starting another “cluster headache season” right now so hopefully I don’t get any. Otherwise we can schedule a visit to the operating room where she can remove more of the unnecessary blood vessels. Luckily our bodies have more than we need.

More Pictures of Kaylee Ann

August 9th, 2007 11:41 pm

By popular demand, I’ve posted some pictures of our beautiful Kaylee Ann Canoni. Enjoy!

I recently got a new High Definition video camera that takes some amazing quality video. Once I figure out how to post those, I’ll be sure to share. More pictures to come, so check back soon.

And unfortunately, “Kaylee” is not available as a vanity license plate :(

D3nied by the DMV

August 9th, 2007 2:02 pm

My license plate of 0X800080 was denied by the New York DMV. The reason they gave was:

The plate configuration may be confusing or objectionable to Law Enforcement. No substitution of the number “0″ the letter “O” is permitted on any style plate. On the blue banner “picture” plate, the number “1″ cannot be substituted for the letter “I”.

Boo! My current license plate is more confusing! How is this confusing???

So now I must continue my quest to find the perfect license plate. Any suggestions?

Simpsonize Me into Adulthood

July 29th, 2007 6:30 pm

Scott Canoni as a SimpsonLast night Anna and I went to the movie theaters for the last time as baby-less parents. We knew it would be a long time before we’d be able to go back to the movies. We saw the Simpsons Movie and it was by far the best movie we’ve seen in a long time. Highly recommended to all. Make sure to stick around for the credits.

A friend of mine always said that when the Simpsons stopped creating new shows for TV, it will mean we have finally turned into adults. I’ve agreed with him until now. Watching the Simpsons Movie last night was a way of welcoming myself into full blown adulthood. I’m pretty sure that Matt Groening purposefully released the movie on my daughters due date.

If you go to SimpsonizeMe.com, you can use a photo to generate a Simpson version of yourself. I was pretty pleased the results.

No baby yet. If you’re wondering where little baby Canoni is, you can go ahead and ask Matt Groening why he released his movie so early.

Decision Making

July 24th, 2007 8:58 pm

Things I did today:

  • Created a Limited Liability Company named Tacos n Tonic, LLC
  • Decided on and ordered the license plate: 0X800080
  • Ordered monthly shipments of Poland Spring 5 gallon water bottles
  • Evaluated and paid our Escrow Shortage amount (stupid taxes)

Oh, Anna and I have been thinking hard about a name for our little baby girl and we’re pretty sure about the name. Recently we’ve started bouncing the name off of people and the results have been extremely positive. We’re so thrilled you like it because it’s our favorite :)

License Plate Research Continues

July 20th, 2007 9:36 pm

I’m still trying to figure out which license plate I want to get. As always, I like to think about things for obscene amounts of time.

Which Purple Matches?

July 18th, 2007 8:49 pm

Purple ProtectorSo I’ve decided to get a vanity license plate with the hex code of the color purple. Congrats to those of you who guessed correctly in the license plate trivia. Now I have to decide on the exact hex code and I’m obviously sticking to the color purple.

The web safe color for purple is #800080, and there’s something nice about filling up the license plate with 8’s and 0’s.

Though, it’s tough to get a good reading on my car and I’d like to match it. I thought it might help to create a pixelated image. I’m still not sure.

Well, what do YOU think? Which one of these matches the color of my car the best?

1. #800080

2. #700070

3. #600060

4. #500050

5. #400040

Mod Your Toilet, Save the World

July 7th, 2007 9:04 pm

Today is 07/07/07 and there are world wide concerts happening on each continent (and one online in Zwinky) to promote saving the Earth through easy to do things anyone and everyone should be doing to help.

Some tips are:

  • Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs that not only last longer but save energy.
  • Reuse plastic shopping bags from the supermarket or better yet bring your own bags to the supermarket.
  • Unplug chargers from the wall socket when you’re not charging anything.

Toilet ModWell, I’ve got my own tip that I’m quite proud of. I’ve been doing this ever since I owned an apartment and started paying the the water bill. This tip is so easy for anyone to do that I hope you do it today.

I mod my toilets. How? I simply fill up a 2 or 3 liter soda bottle with water and place it in the water tank in the back. That way I save 2 or 3 liters of water for each and every flush. That adds up quick! I also lower the water bulb so that the tank doesn’t fill up as much. If you can fit a 3 liter bottle in there, go for it, I recommend the largest bottle you can fit.

You’ll find that missing 2 or 3 liters has little or no impact on the toilets flushing ability. So what are you waiting for? Save the world, mod your toilet today!
